My Husband.
(I'm still getting used to saying that!)
Since I met Joel about two years ago, I've come to know and love an amazing man. Here are a few stories and different things I've learned about him:
It seems like Joel has played almost all the sports under the sun, and watches them too ;) I'm quickly becoming acquainted with the Vikings. Good thing my favorite color is purple!!
In this picture, at age three, Joel is imitating the stance of a football player he saw on TV while he plays with his Dad.
He has a good sense of humor.
The first time Joel met with my brothers and sister-in-law Ashley, Ashley and I decided to play a prank on Joel. (I couldn't resist teasing the guy at least a little!) Throughout the evening while we had supper at Apleebee's, the classic Applebee's birthday song was sung to multiple customers. Joel and Chad remarked on how embarrassing it is when they do that.
mwha ha ha ha.
Ashley and I secretly told our waiter that it was Joel's birthday and we'd like him to be sung to. Our waiter enthusiastically fulfilled our request. After it was all said and done, and evident from our uncontrollable laughter that Ashley and I had set it up, Joel turned to me and said,
"You're going to keep me on my toes, aren't you?"
He is very logical and intelligent.
When he was little, he played with real corn, and real dirt, and lifelike farming equipment. He refused to play with a wooden farm toy his Mom had someone make for him because it wasn't like the real thing.
He's a hard worker.
Joel loves the farm and takes a lot of pride in working the land. The first time I came out to visit him at his place he gave me the grand tour of the farm... including climbing "The Tower". This was after I had mentioned to him that I don't like heights. Boys.
I just think this picture is cute and hilarious. Even though Joel just caught a large fish, he's disappointed because it broke his pole.
He loves playing with his little cousins.
Even though they aren't all little anymore, he loves throwing around a football or getting into a wrestling match with them.
He's very dependable and I know I can always lean on him
when I need to. (Oooh, I feel the need to break out into a
song... "Lean on Me...")
He's just so darn cute ;)
Sorry, Honey, I couldn't resist posting at least one
baby picture.
A big "shout out" to Val and Naomi for putting a curl in his baby hair!
